Today, I will be sharing 9 tips on how to regain calmness during times of inner chaos. Life can be hard, and we all go through those times where you feel completely overwhelmed and tapped out. These are the days when it feels like you can’t physically get yourself out of bed to face the day. We all go through personal hardships that could involve sudden death of a loved one, relationship troubles, illness, or financial woes.
We don’t know why these things happen to us, but we have to press forward. And often it makes us stronger and gives us a greater respect and understanding for life.
9 Tips on How To Regain Calmness During Times of Inner Chaos
Trust Yourself And Your Instincts
Things often seem worse than they are and when you heal, you grow. Just trust yourself and follow your instincts. Tell yourself each morning in the mirror that things are going to be ok. And believe it! When you feel overwhelmed, don’t try to solve everything at once. Give yourself time and tackle each day at a time. Have faith and confidence that this will pass and that you will regain your life.
Make it a Learning Opportunity
Setbacks and mistakes are a normal phase of life. If the road is bump-free and too easy, you might be heading in the wrong direction. Obstacles in the road teach you valuable life lessons and it shows you what you need to do in order to move forward. Our journey is not supposed to be all rainbows and butterflies. Once you’ve completed the journey, and you have conquered the obstacles, it will be worth it and you will experience a sense of accomplishment.
Have Realistic Expectations
If your expectations of life are too high, things rarely work out the way you want them to. You might be missing the silver lining because you were too busy looking for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. See things as they are and accept them instead of hoping for a different outcome. Things often happen for a reason and it only makes sense when we look back on this experience at a later stage.
Confide in Someone You Trust
Always remember that you are not alone. There is that certain someone that you can trust when you find yourself in a dark place. They often cannot solve your problems, but they can be there for you.
They can listen and understand what you are going through. Because they have been through a similar situation. They want to help. All you have to do is to let them in. Sometimes that is all you need to give you hope and encourage you to push forward and see things through.
Never Give up Hope
The stars are only visible when it is dark. When I go through troubles of my own and if I feel like I am alone in the world, I look up. Gazing at the stars often brings calmness. Where there is hope, there is a way. Get actively involved with activities and thoughts that keep the flame of hope alive.
It empowers you to grow and strive for something better even when your circumstances feel hopeless. Having hope means accepting reality for what it is but never giving up on what you have to do to reach your end goal.
Run Towards a Problem Instead of Away from it
If you concentrate too much on not thinking about a problem, all you end up doing is think about it. The same goes for freeing your mind from negativity that was part of your past. If you keep trying to run away from it, all you end up doing is carrying this burden with you.
But if you focus your energy on something that you really want and face the issue head-on, you can finally let go of the negativity and start progressing towards positivity and inner calmness. In short, instead of focusing on getting rid of the negative, rather emphasize on creating something positive.
Distance Yourself for a Short While
When you look at things from afar they seem simple. Sometimes all you have to do is take a few steps back, distance yourself and look at things from another perspective. Look at yourself and you how you experience every moment.
Be present and observe how you think and act as you go through the emotions. Your body might feel pain, but this pain is not you. Do not allow your present troubles to get in the way of your thinking. Look at things a different way. If someone close to you went through this, what advice would you give them?
Remember That Healing is a Process
Emotional healing takes time, therefore don’t force yourself to get over it. Moving on does not happen in a day. It takes numerous steps to leave the past behind and move forward.
Take each day in its own stride and don’t allow yourself to think that your negative past is the reason why you are having a bad life now. The past may have been painful, but there’s no reason why you can’t turn things around and have a better life now. Give yourself the time you need to heal and then explore a new beginning, starting with a clean slate.
Find the Beginning in Every Ending
Don’t ponder on what might have been and instead focus on what can be. Say to yourself that you are thankful that the negative past is over and that you’ve learned valuable life lessons from it. But it is time to move forward and you are ready. Just when you think things are ending, a great new beginning starts. Embrace it!
Conclusion
I hope that these 9 tips on how to regain calmness during times of inner chaos have helped you in some way. When you feel overwhelmed and uninspired, remember that you are not alone, there is always hope, and that you are stronger than you think. Don’t focus on the negative, but rather create something positive.
Sending you lots of light, love, and inner calmness.
